Do you know how much God loves you? Don't worry, I don't either. Sometimes, however, a fleeting glimpse of the depth of his love is revealed to me.
I've been feeling more than a little hard to love lately. Major life changes (although for the good) have left me stressed, distracted, and completely worn out. I've been forgetful, error-prone, jumpy, and cranky. I was praying that a week at the beach would refresh me, but I came home burdened with prayer for friends.
And I feel like my prayers are muffled and blocked by my attitude and joylessness. I know God hears, but I don't feel close to Him.
A few minutes ago, in another struggle to pray, I asked God, "Would you still love me even if…" – and that's as far as I got.
An overwhelming YES flowed through me before I could fill in the blank, and God seemed to say, "Don't bother. It doesn't matter. I will love you even if, and no matter what. You can't make me not love you."
"Peace. Be still." Mark 4:39
Thank you, God. I love you too.
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
And for you dear reader, and for me,
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19
I wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned, unclean.
How marvelous, how wonderful Is my Savior's love for me.*
